FREE health clinic, screening - Kehelgamuoya, Ginigathena.

We kickstart the year with GREAT NEWS

We finished our first successful project for 2025 through the SLAWGW charity arm, in an extremely rural and underdeveloped small town called Kehelgamuoya, Ginigathena. Ginigathena is located within Central Province in the Nuwara Eliya District in Sri Lanka.

We were able successfully organize and conduct a FREE health clinic, screening for systemic conditions like hypertension, diabetes and ocular diseases including cataracts and dry eyes, while distributing 250 reading glasses, sunglasses and safety eye wear

We were also able to write over 100 bifocal lens eyeglass prescriptions by recruiting a local Optometrist and Doctor. The Patients that extract kithul honey, work in rubber estates and have only one “working” eye were greatly benefited with the protective eyewear.

People in the village have extremely harsh living conditions including 2 schools for a population of 2500 people. 90% of people came to the clinic without footwear.

The Clinic was organized at Kehelgamuoya PAMS hydro power plant.
