Achievements 2023/2024

1. Book drive - today we are collecting books and other supplies to be sent to children and schools in Sri Lanka. As many of you know, having good supplies and books are the foundational stones of a strong education. Together we can help a new generation receive a better education and build better lives for themselves.

2. ⁠community wells - water is something that we often take for granted here. Our biggest problem is making sure the Brita is full. However, in communities all over Sri Lanka there is a huge scarcity of clean water. SLAWDC is helping to develop community wells in the eastern province to ensure access to clean water. Access to clean water is linked to both better physical and mental health. In addition it can also boost the economic growth of a region.

3. ⁠as you may have seen on our social media. We have spent the last two weeks providing reading glasses to marginalized communities in Sri Lanka. The impacts of this program have been far reaching as students, prisoners, and elderly have all recieved glasses. Across the country we have heard such positive things about the need for these glasses and how people plan to use them in their lives. It is thanks to your support so far that we have been able to distribute them and make difficult lives a little bit easier. 

4. ⁠ due to the ongoing economic situation, malnutrition has increased in Sri Lanka. Now it is more important than ever that we provide them the appropriate aid to help children develop and grow to become strong and healthy. SLAWDC is committed to being part of the solution and preventing this problem from becoming even worse.
